How to...
Our guidelines and tips will help you to produce a design that will make a successful rug.
- The painting should be landscape format and must be A3 size - 297 x 420mm
- The designs that work best are simple and bold - this is especially true when ordering the small size
- It can be helpful to outline the main elements of the picture in black or a strong colour
- Writing and small details are not very sucessful
- Avoid borders and anything too close to the edges - it can get lost in translation from artwork to rug
- Slightly subtle paint colours are best as the colours tend to become a little brighter in the process
A simple three step process can help:
Step 1

Get your child to draw the outline of their design in pencil on
A3 size paper - 297 x 420 mm
Step 2

Draw over the main outlines in black, or a strong waterproof colour pen - or take an A3 photocopy if you use ordinary felt pen to avoid the paint making the outline run.
Step 3

Get your child to colour in the picture with paints - staying inside the lines if possible.
And here is the finished rug in all its glory!
